Marathon Oil shut down all three platforms at the Brae oil and gas field in the North Sea due to a suspected gas leak on Monday. "The Brae Alpha, Brae Bravo and East Brae platforms have all been shut because there was a gas alert on Bravo at about 0345 GMT this morning," said a spokeswoman for Marathon. "Checks are still being carried out." Staff remained on the platforms despite the shutdown.
Marathon said gas exports from the Brae Area via the Scottish Area Gas Evacuation (SAGE) terminal in December averaged 593 million cubic feet per day.
