Former BP Executive Joins Santos Board

The Board of Santos Ltd is pleased to announce that former senior BP executive, Mr. Richard Michael Harding MSc, who is respected internationally in the oil and gas industry, has been appointed a Director, effective March 1, 2004.
Mr. Harding, aged 54, retired in 2003 from BP Exploration Australia where, from 1996, he held the position of President and General Manager of BP Developments Australia Limited. His responsibilities included upstream assets in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Malaysia/Thailand.
His other previous positions with BP included:
Business Manager Azerbaihjan 1992-1996
Business Manager UK Land 1989-1992
Business Manager BP Engineering 1987-1989
Project Director North Sea Pipeline 1985-1987
Technical Manager North West Shelf 1982-1985.
Mr. Harding, who has an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Aston University, is a former Council member of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) and a director of Arc Energy Ltd.
He is also Chairman of the Ministry of Defence Command Support, Training and Simulation Project Governance Board.
Commenting on the Board appointment, the Chairman of Santos, Mr. Stephen Gerlach, said: - "Mr. Harding's extensive international experience in managing and enhancing the strategic development of major upstream investments will bring additional oil and gas industry experience to the Santos Board."
