No Injuries Reported in OK Oil Rig Explosion

An oil rig drilling for natural gas in Watonga, Okla., exploded Monday night around 10 p.m.

Firefighters responded to the incident and continue efforts Tuesday morning to extinguish the blaze at the Moseley 1-5H rig, which is operated by Continental Resources and owned by Patterson Drilling.

Of the approximate dozen of employees on site at the time of the explosion, all evacuated prior to the explosion and no injuries have been reported.
A one-mile area around the site of the explosion has been quarantined. The blaze is under control.
Officials and investigators from both Continental and Patterson are beginning the process of going over the scene to uncover the cause of the explosion.
