The contract comprises five compressors to the Ormen Lange gas processing plant at Nyhamna in Mid-Norway.
Three 48 megawatt motor-driven compressors will be used for gas export to United Kingdom, and two 7.3 megawatt motor-driven compressors are for re-compression of gas.
The compressors weigh approximately 160 and 70 tons, respectively.
These compressors are central units at the processing plant at Nyhamna. Development of the plant will start as soon as the Norwegian Government has approved the development plans this spring.
Hydro is operator for Ormen Lange during the development phase, including all field development, the gas processing plant at Nyhamna, and the export pipeline project.
The contract is based on Hydro's frame agreements for compressors.
The contract award is conditional on government approval of the Plan for Installation and Operation (PIO) and the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO).
Production start of the Ormen Lange field is planned for October 2007.
Ormen Lange is the largest gas field under development on the Norwegian continental shelf. It is located 100 km off the northwest coast of Norway at a water depth of 800 to 1,100 meters.
