Faroe Petroleum has spud the Fulla prospect in the west Shetland area of the Atlantic margin. The exploratory well is targeting potentially oil-bearing Devonian Clair reservoir sands at a depth of 6,890 feet (2,100 meters).
Faroe is using the WilPhoenix semisub to drill the well in a water depth of 394 feet (120 meters). Completion of operations is expected in the next month or so. Faroe operates the P.1161 license with a 50% interest; Canadian Overseas Petroleum Limited holds the remaining interest.
