Alaska Gov Accepts Gas Producers' Pipeline Application

As expected, Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski Friday said his state had accepted an application by ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and BP PLC to build a natural gas pipeline from Alaska, the second such application in two days.

As reported, MidAmerican Energy Holdings, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, also applied to build a natural gas pipeline to help move gas from Alaska's North Slope to the lower 48 states.

Murkowski said that he "wouldn't be surprised" if a third application were filed, or if addenda were made to the existing applications.

"The applications stand independently, and we will review them with the team independently," Murkowski said.
