The new well is located in 6,750 feet of water, about 216 miles off the Louisiana coastline. Initial drilling on Chevron's well began March 2010 by the Discoverer Inspiration drillship. Drilling was suspended on June 9, 2010, due to the drilling suspensions imposed following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
