Maersk Oil, OGX Make Oil Find Offshore Brazil

Maersk Oil and partner OGX have discovered oil in Albain carbonates at the Carambola B exploratory well in Block BM-C-37 in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil.

Preliminary estimate is that the well found about 17 meters of net pay. An extensive logging program including coring, pressure measurements and hydrocarbon sampling was performed.

Further work is now required to assess productivity, reported the operator. Drilling is continuing until a depth of 9,843 feet (3,000 meters) is met. Maersk Oil operates the block, holding a 50% interest; OGX holds 50% interest.
