ConocoPhillips to Spin Bit in North Sea

The Petroleum Safety Authority gave approval to ConocoPhillips to conduct exploratory drilling on well 7/11-12 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea using the Maersk Gallant jackup. The well will be drilled in Production License 301 CS, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) northwest of Ekofisk. The water depth at the site is about 230 feet (70 meters). Drilling should start in March 2011 and will last 162 days.
