EnerMech Snags 1st Turkmen Contract

EnerMech has secured its first contract in Turkmenistan and will provide nitrogen helium leak testing services for MMHE Technip JV.

The Aberdeen-based engineering services group will carry out the work at the Onshore Gas Terminal in Kiyanly, with the contract said to be worth an estimated £900,000 ($1.4M).

EnerMech will use its global reach to service the contract with equipment mobilized from UAE, personnel supplied from the UK and manage the project from the company's Caspian headquarters in Azerbaijan.

Jason Grimley, EnerMech's business development manager for the Middle East & Caspian, said, "It is our first contract in Turkmenistan but we hope the first of many. We are in the process of setting up an office and workshops in-country which demonstrates our long-term commitment to Turkmenistan.

"We don't believe in shipping in equipment and people to projects on a piecemeal basis but prefer to establish a strong local presence in each region we are working in. Our Turkmenistan base should be completed in Q2/2011 and we will use the MMHE Technip contract as a blueprint for what we can do on behalf of other clients in the region."
