Marathon Granted Consent to Drill North Sea Block 25/10

The Petroleum Safety Authority gave approval to Marathon Petroleum to perform exploratory drilling on well 25/10-11 in Production License 505 using the Transocean Winner semisub. Drilling should start at the end of December and finish in 87 days; however, drilling could last up to 187 days if discoveries are made. The well is located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of the Heimdal field and about 112 miles (180 kilometers) west of Haugesund, and lies in a water depth of 1,079 feet (329 meters). Marathon is the operator of PL 505 with a 50% interest; Lundin Norway holds 30%; and Verbundnetz Gas Norge holds 20%.
