Tendeka has been awarded a two-year multi million dollar contract extension from Total E&P Qatar to supply its Sentinel distributed temperature sensing (DTS) system and its FloQuest interpretation services on the Al Khalij oilfield, offshore Qatar.
The extension follows on from an initial three-year contract agreed for the scope of work. The field uses waterflood secondary recovery to produce oil through horizontal wells. Information from Tendeka's Sentinel DTS system, which has the required level of temperature measurement resolution (less than 0.01 degree Celsuis), enables the interpretation of flow distribution and allocation of the different pay zones using FloQuest in the producer wells, in addition to detecting water breakthrough.
Similarly, the permeable zones and flow distribution are able to be interpreted in the water injection wells.
The integrated deployment of DTS and FloQuest provide a complete temperature profile of the wells, enabling the operator to optimize performance.
Data is continuously available in real-time providing enhanced understanding of flow contribution and immediate detection of water breakthrough.
