Derrick Services (UK) Ltd (DSL) has opened new offices in South East Asia and appointed a regional manager to oversee growth in what the company sees as a key strategic location.
DSL provides a range of services to support drilling contractors and operators worldwide from both its headquarters in the UK and international bases. Services include derrick inspection, rig/drilling package refurbishment and upgrade, derrick assembly and outfitting, rope access trades personnel, in-house engineering, design & fabrication.
Ryan Moore, who has worked in the oil industry for more than 25 years, many of them associated with drilling structures, has taken up the role of Singapore-based manager for DSL SE Asia, as the company responds to increasing demand for its services from established customers in the region.
Mr. Moore has worked with DSL for six years but his association with DSL management goes back to 1986. Since then he has accumulated a wealth of experience on both construction and drilling structure/rig projects, worldwide, working with the management team and staff at MIL and before that Turmeric Ltd, both of which had a strong emphasis on drilling structures.
DSL Managing Director Mike Smith said, "Ryan has established himself as an excellent ambassador for DSL and his reputation with our long term customers stands him in good stead to maximize the potential for the business in the region having spent 18 months overseeing the assembly and outfitting of the derricks on the Maersk Deliverer & Discoverer. I am delighted that yet again we have been able to promote someone from within the business, especially someone with whom I have had such a long working relationship, and whose father Rod taught me the ropes when I first came into the industry. He has the primary responsibility for developing our business in SE Asia and the Far East with a particular focus on derrick assembly, rig inspection, recertification and upgrading work.
"Through establishing our presence in strategic locations around the world we are ensuring that we are available to our clients at short notice, as is often the requirement. DSL has a reputation for retaining and building relationships with customers through engineering integrity, quality products and services, highly-skilled and experienced personnel and speed of response and flexibility."
Mr. Moore added, "DSL is totally customer focused with an experienced team who continually deliver a professional service. There are excellent opportunities for DSL to provide our broad range of services in Asia Pacific, including derrick assembly, inspection and upgrade work. I am looking forward very much to developing our business with both our existing customers and new customers around the region going forward. It is also very encouraging how quickly we have been able to start picking up orders with work already carried out in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as work in Singapore."
