Eni is an integrated energy company, operating in the oil, natural gas, power generation and petrochemicals industries as well as oilfield services and engineering. It has a strong competitive edge and leading market positions in these businesses. Eni conducts operations in more than 70 countries where it employs 72,000 people and produces more than one million barrels of oil equivalent a day. Eni intends to increase its daily hydrocarbon production to at least 1.5 million boe by 2003. Eni generates revenues of more than 60,000 billion lire and net income of ITL 5,000 billion lire and boasts a return on capital employed (ROACE) of 12.5%. The company is listed on the New York and Milan stock exchanges with capitalization amounting to 90,000 billion lire (as of June 2000).
