NPD Okays Troll Work for Statoil

Statoil received consent to perform plugging, sidetrack drilling and completion of wells using the Stena Don semisub on the Troll field. The consent applies to wells 31/5-J-14H, 31/5-J-14 AY1H and 31/5-J-14 AY2H, in Production Licenses 054 and 085. Start-up operations on Troll will commence as soon as the vessel is ready for operations for Statoil, which is expected to commence as early as October 15 or at the end of November. Operations have an expected duration of about 16 months. Troll, a natural gas and oil field, lies in the northern part of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea in water depths of 1,033 to 1,132 feet (315 to 345 meters), about 40 miles (65 kilometers) west of Kollsnes, near Bergen.
