Newfield Exploration Updates on Pipeline Damage Offshore Malaysia

An unidentified marine vessel has damaged an oil pipeline connecting the East Belumut platform to the Tinggi platform. Newfield Exploration, operator, has shut-in production from the oil field and the leak was isolated. The East Belumut field was producing about 20 Mbopd prior to shut-in. It should take approximately six to eight weeks to complete and return East Belumut to production. The field is located in license PM 323, about 160 miles (257 kilometers) offshore Peninsular Malaysia in 240 feet (73 meters) of water.
