The light sweet crude oil futures contract on the NYMEX settled at $81.24 a barrel Friday, losing ground from the previous day's close of $82.11. The 87-cent decline capped off a trading day where the oil price hit a high of $83.16 after opening at $82.20. The price bottomed out at $80.67 during Friday's activity.
The RBOB Gasoline Futures price also finished the day lower on Friday. After opening at $2.30, it reached a high of $2.28 and fell to $2.24 before settling at $2.26.
The natural gas spot price for April delivery settled at $4.40 Friday, four cents lower than Thursday's settlement price.
