Shell Gets OK to Replace Draugen FLP

change text size

Norske Shell (Shell) has received consent for a large reconstruction of Draugen.

The consent is for the replacement of the floating loading platform (FLP) on the Draugen field. The present FLP has been in operation since the start up of the field in 1993. It is connected to the Draugen facility by pipelines and is anchored about 3 kilometers away.

Both the old and new FLPs are loading devices, with no interim oil storage. The new FLP will not be visible on the surface, but will be submerged and float in the water column.
The new FLP will be installed in 2010.
