Indonesia: Stakeholders Should Help Boost Oil, Gas Production
Printer Friendly Version

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro urged stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to actively participate in boosting production, he said at the closing of the Oil and Gas Sub-sector Working Meeting at the Graha Widya Patra Oil and Gas Museum at TMII, Jakarta, on Thursday (04/17).

"There are upstream issues that need to be resolved. But don't hand over everything to the government. The role of stakeholders is very important in this democracy era. The government will lead the way, but the stakeholders have to be with the government. The stakeholders have to be more active in boosting production," Purnomo said.

Purnomo said Indonesia has abundant natural resources, including mining and energy commodities. However, there are many challenges faced in managing the resources, including overlapping areas with forests, the environment and fiscal terms.

"Potential will remain as potential if the policies aren't established and conducted well. We have bigger challenges. The key is coordination," Purnomo said.
