Strike Could Halt Petrobras Output for 5 Days
Printer Friendly Version
Eighty percent of unionized workers at Brazil's federal energy company Petrobras (NYSE: PBR) have approved a five-day strike for July, Jose Maria Rangel, director of the oil workers federation (FUP), told BNamericas.

FUP will meet again on July 4 to decide when to start the strike, which will put a stop to the company's domestic production, according to FUP.

"Petrobras has not been in touch with us so far. They were waiting for our union workers to deliberate on the strike. We're getting organized for next week regardless of whether Petrobras gets in touch or not," Rangel said on Friday.

The union is protesting worker salaries and promotion plans.
