The hull of the P-54 floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel has arrived at Brazil's Maua Jurong shipyard, a spokesperson for federal energy company Petrobras (NYSE: PBR), which contracted the ship, told BNamericas.
The ship's topside will now be built and coupled. The FPSO hull was converted in the Jurong shipyard in Singapore.
Work on the vessel will wrap up in the first quarter of 2007, Petrobras said in a statement. The FPSO will have capacity to produce 180,000 barrels of oil a day and compress 6 million cubic meters of natural gas a day.
P-54 will produce oil from 13 production wells in the deepwater Roncador field in the Campos basin.
Petrobras aims to spend US$900mn on the P-54.
