Norwest Recommences Completion Operations at Arrowsmith-2 Well

Norwest Energy NL announced Monday that completion operations have recommenced at Arrowsmith-2 shale gas well in Permit EP 413, which is located in the northern Perth Basin in Australia, following the temporary suspension of the evaluation program announced Sept. 10.

The program has been modified to complete the well at 8,677.8 feet.

The revised plan will not compromise the objectives of the original evaluation program, however, will delay determining the full potential of the High Cliff Sandstone (HCSS) until the Irwin River Coal Measures and Carynginia zones are sufficiently cleaned up.

Under the original program once testing of the HCSS was complete, co-mingled flow from the three formations was to be used to assist in cleaning up the remaining injected fluids from the Carynginia and Irwin River Coal Measures, which remains the case. Production logging tools will be used to evaluate the contribution from each zone at various times during flow-back.

This co-mingled flow approach has been successfully demonstrated by a number of other operators on unconventional (vertical) well evaluation programs.

Operations and project evaluation will continue within the timeframe and budget originally planned.

Joint Venture partners in EP413 include:

  • Norwest Energy NL (Operator): 27.945 percent
  • AWE Limited (via subsidiaries): 44.252 percent
  • Bharat PetroResources Ltd: 27.803 percent
