Algeria Plans Incentives For Unconventional O&G

change text size

PARIS - Algeria plans to offer incentives for the exploration of unconventional hydrocarbons under a current proposal, an oil-ministry adviser said Thursday.

Speaking at a Paris energy conference, Ali Hached, an adviser to Algeria's oil minister Youcef Yousfi, said that for non-conventional, "there will be incentives, tax and others."

He cited tight gas--stuck in a very tight, impermeable formations--and shale gas--which is trapped in porous rock structures.

He said the incentives were part of a proposed amendment to Algeria's hydrocarbons law which is still being examined by the government.

Hached said the amendement would offer improved terms for future contracts be they conventional or unconventional. It would be "in proportion of the difficulty" of each acreage, Hached said.
