change text size

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate began acquiring seismic data in the southern part of the Barents Sea at 17:28 hours Norwegian time on 26 April, the organization reported Friday.

"The entire first line of 6.7 kilometers [4.2 miles] was acquired before midnight. We are very satisfied with this start-up," said Lars Jensen, the NPD's project manager for this summer's seismic acquisition.

The acquisition, which will be carried out by the vessel M/V Artemis Atlantic, will take place over six-to-eight weeks.

In total, around 3,725 miles (6,000 kilometers) of seismic will be acquired in this area.
