Valiant Cladhan South Well Comes Up Dry

change text size

North Sea-focused Valiant Petroleum announced Thursday that the Cladhan South exploration prospect (Valiant, 30-percent interest) located in Block 210/29c in the UK Northern North Sea will be plugged and abandoned.

Valiant said that the well encountered multiple Upper Jurassic sand channels on prognosis, none of which were thought to be hydrocarbon bearing. Valiant's costs were carried through the well.

Valiant has two wells currently drilling on the Orchid exploration prospect (Valiant, 30 percent) and an appraisal well on the Tybalt discovery (Valiant, 80 percent, operator), both with results anticipated in late April. Two further exploration wells are also anticipated to spud during the first half of the year; Timon (Valiant, 10 percent) and Tryfan (Valiant, 33.33 percent).
