Velocious Australia, Viper Subsea Sign Agreement

change text size

Perth-based subsea solutions company Velocious Australia has signed an exclusive agency agreement with leading UK subsea engineering company Viper Subsea.

The agreement enables both companies, which are already globally recognized as providers of high quality subsea solutions, to expand their offerings to overseas markets and collaborate on product development and project execution.

Velocious Managing Director Brett Silich said the agreement gave Velocious exclusive rights to include innovative Viper Subsea products as part of its service offering.

"It allows us to call upon Viper Subsea's key strengths in the areas of control system design and development to further enhance the highly specialized end-to-end services we provide to our valued global customers," Mr. Silich said.

Under the agreement, Velocious will become the first company in Australia with the capability to develop, manufacture and commission loose steel tube flying leads and all associated installation aids – a product for which demand is increasing rapidly from offshore deep water operators.

Velocious's flying leads will incorporate Viper Subsea's V-Lock stabplate system. Stabplates are one of the critical links in subsea control distribution systems.

The V-Lock system has undergone over three years of research, development and qualification with the leading hardware manufactures to overcome many of the current problems seen in the industry.

Mr. Silich said the agreement also provided greater exposure for Velocious products and services in the UK subsea market.

"In 2012 our company's focus is firmly placed on growing its local services but also expanding into international markets. The North Sea is a key market for Velocious, so our alliance with Viper Subsea will provide important exposure for our products and services."

Viper Subsea Managing Director, Neil Douglas said the agreement was a boon for both companies which shared similarities in their growth, capabilities and industry reputations for reliability and safety.

"This is an extremely exciting collaboration between two ambitious companies that offer complimentary products and services in the subsea market," Mr. Douglas said.

"Both companies should see immediate benefits through regional representation, marketing support, and exploitation of the combined engineering capabilities.

"Our clients will similarly benefit from the broader offerings that result from this collaboration."
