Lundin Kicks Off Espevaer Appraisal Offshore Norway

Statoil has kicked-off appraisal drilling on well 16/2-10 on the Espevaer/Aldous Major South structure in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The operator states that the Espevaer prospect will explore the northern continuation of the Aldous Major South discovery and the western extension of the Avaldsnes discovery in PL 501. The main objective of the well is the sandstone reservoir of Upper Jurassic age. The planned total depth of the well is 6,995 feet (2,132 meters), and the Transocean Leader semisub is performing the drilling operations.

The well lies in Production License 265. Partners in the license include Statoil (operator, 40%), Petoro (30%), Det norske (20%) and Lundin (10%).
