Rockhopper Extends Sea Lion Find West

Rockhopper Exploration has completed appraisal well 14/10-6 on the Sea Lion field offshore Falkland Islands. The purpose of the well was to investigate reservoir and hydrocarbon presence within the company’s mid-case Sea Lion mapped area.

Well 14/10-6 was the first to penetrate the Sea Lion main fan to the west of the mapped structural low that runs north-south through Sea Lion. The well proved the reservoir is thick, with high-quality hydrocarbons. The operator completed logging operations, also several mini DST’s within the main fan complex and oil successfully flowed from the main fan.

Rockhopper will incorporate the information with existing data to give an estimate of the potential well productivity. Once operations are complete, the company will drill an exploration well outside of the Sea Lion discovery area. The well is designed to investigate the presence of reservoir and hydrocarbon charge towards the northernmost currently mapped extent of the Sea Lion main fan.
