GE O&G has entered into an agreement with Bechtel for the supply of compression technology for two customized LNG refrigeration trains for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone project in Western Australia.
Chevron requested 16 LM6000PFs, 12 for mechanical drive and four to drive generators. Use of the mechanical drives will occur in the main refrigeration compression trains of the LNG facility. The operator expects to make a final investment decision on the project in the second half of 2011.
The Wheatstone Project is located roughly 90 miles (145 kilometers) offshore, approximately 62 miles (100 kilometers) north of Barrow Island and 140 miles (225 kilometers) north of Onslow.
