Petronas Drills Duster Offshore Mauritania

Petronas has failed to find hydrocarbons in the Gharabi-1 well in Block 6 offshore Mauritania. The well has been plugged and abandoned.

Drilled by the Maersk Deliverer in a water depth of 5,863 feet (1,787 meters), the well was drilled to a total depth of 14,544 feet (4,433 meters), intersecting poorly developed water-bearing reservoirs.

Block 6 is operated by Petronas, owning a 72.6% interest; Tullow owns 22.4%; and Roc Oil owns the remaining 5% interest.
