JOB SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities of this position include evaluating, modeling and planning managed pressure drilling projects. The MPD Applications Engineer will interface externally and internally on technical issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
General HSE Requirements

Job Specific HSE Requirements
- Knowledge of all equipment specifications, pressure test procedures, operating procedures, maintenance procedures, QA and Health & Safety guidelines
- Ensures compliance with pre-ops safety meeting requirements and audits operational paperwork and records in accordance with job file requirements
- Ensures operations are in strict compliance with all procedures and government regulations regarding Health and Safety and Environmental requirements
- Identify job specific hazards and review existing SOP's and revise/develop as required
- Manage relevant reporting
Responsibilities
- Provide Engineering and technical support in both field and office for MPD, well modeling, programming and analysis for International and Houston region.
- Provide and facilitate technical training for customers, junior engineers, supervisors, and rig crews in MPD technique and well construction
- Work as a lead engineer for MPD operations
- Ensure open and effective lines of communication during MPD operations among all appropriate personnel
- Monitoring well conditions and specifying rates and backpressure application on the well to ensure all MPD criteria are met
- Regulating ROP and monitoring well conditions during drilling
- Perform steady-state material balance and productivity index while drilling and leak off test while drilling
- Running single and multiphase flow modeling as well progresses to ensure all drilling constraints are met, adjusting model to match real-time drilling data
- Review daily drilling operation reports and advice on changes if needed
- Performing snubbing calculations before pulling out of hole (POOH) or running in (RIH) when necessary
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
- Candidates should have a minimum of three to seven years oilfield experience as a Drilling or Rig Engineer.
SKILLS
- Practical Drilling and Well Control Skills
- Good knowledge and experience in drilling optimization, well planning and work over operations
- Knowledge and experience in Horizontal, Extended reach, slim hole HPHT and MPD
- Proven troubleshooting skills
- Strong analytical, design, computer, organizational and communication skills
- Understanding and/or experience in Drilling Hydraulics Computer Modelling
- Competent with Microsoft office products.
- Excellent written and oral skills - must be capable of effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical personnel at field and office level
KEY INTERFACES:
Works closely with other key personnel including internal personnel and clients. We will rely on the MPD Applications Engineer to provide detailed planning and modeling to ensure customer satisfaction.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position may require worldwide travel on short notice.
