Job Description:
|
Essential Job Duties:
- Mix or blend sodium silicate with water and/or other chemicals required for shipping and processing purposes.
- Load tank cars, load tank trucks, and pump to customers via pipeline.
- Perform physical and analytical tests (i.e. gravity, temperature, viscosity, titrations, etc.) on intermediate and finished products.
- Generate Certificates of Analyses (COA's) for product shipment.
- Use of computer blending program for analytical work and COA data acquisition.
- Use of SAP system for production and shipment processing requirements.
- Use of SAP system for production and shipment processing requirements.
- Inspect and prepare tank cars and tank trucks for loading and shipment.
- Prepare drums and drumming equipment for filling of drums.
- Circulate and sample silicate storage tanks.
- Keep work areas clean and washed down or swept as needed.
- To perform other such related work as directed by the supervisor in order to carry out the necessary responsibilities of the job.
- Maintain shipping operation logs accurately reflecting operations and operating conditions, to produce material of desired quality, and to maintain shipping schedules as instructed.
- Prepare, operate, and clean silicate filtration process.
- Warehouse shipping and receiving.
- Trash collection and disposal in general work area.
- Prepare, operate, and clean soda ash unloading operation and related equipment cleanout activities.
Required Qualifications:
Safety: Must show a thorough comprehension of the safety requirements of his/her job and the Company safety program and shall demonstrate consciousness of his/her own safety as well as consideration for the safety of others.
Communication: Must be able to communicate thoroughly and effectively to his/her supervisors, co-workers, and 3rd parties (i.e. drivers), any and all pertinent information pertaining to the job.
Physical Ability and Aptitude: Shall possess sufficient physical ability and aptitude to discharge the requirements of his/her job without impairing his/her own safety and health, or that of his/her fellow employees.
Reports and Handwriting: Must make any required records, including his/her own time slips, notations, reports or written remarks in a neat, clearly understandable and legible manner.
Arithmetic: Must be capable of doing simple arithmetic (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing accurately.)
Accuracy: Must carefully read instruments and gauges to properly determine amounts of material shipped or used in process, and he/she must determine physical properties of product accurately.
Operating Economy: Must demonstrate a willingness and ability to conduct the requirements of his/her job without waste or loss of materials.
Use of Equipment: Shall use, in a careful manner, the equipment, tools, or instruments that are necessary to the performance of his/her job.
Cooperation: Must be cooperative with fellow workers, and demonstrate a willingness to execute the instructions of his/her supervisors.
Neatness: Shall cooperate faithfully with fellow employees in keeping the entire plant neat and in order. Shall maintain his/her own work place in a neat and clean condition.
Rules: Must comply with all established plant or departmental rules and regulations.
Adherence to Standards: Must carefully adhere to exact procedures or methods as may be prescribed by his/her supervisor.
Absenteeism and Tardiness: Shall not be absent or tardy on the job beyond excusable limits established by Company regulations.
Adaptability: Must be able to adapt himself/herself to necessary changes in the requirements of the job.
