Job Description:
Dovre Group is pleased to provide the following Contract position with a major international oil and gas operator. This position is a key lead role reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager / Electrical Lead. The position is primarily revolves around Large Subsea Motor Qualification and includes the develompment of the technical SOWs for 3rd party execution.  SOW to include development/qualification plans for medium voltage subsea motors (5-7MW each).

Job Description:  

Position reports to the Electrical Lead and/or Facilities Engineering Manager.  Responsible for both independent work and contractor oversight on electrical engineering design works (including power distribution and control).  The Electrical Engineer stewards all phases of electrical system engineering.  He/She ensures that the Project's requirements, as detailed in the Technical Specifications, for all electrical engineering are carried out faithfully, and in a timely fashion.  Stewards electrical engineering aspects of the project with other discipline leads on the PMT, as necessary.  Stewards the interfaces among the PMT and the EPC contractor's organization with respect to electrical engineering and design to ensure quality and minimize change orders.

Position requires flexibility with respect to domestic and international travel.  Position may require relocation for international project assignments.  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide overall electrical engineering technical leadership and expertise
  • May lead and/or participate in plant checkout and start up
  • Investigates electrical equipment and/or systems start-up and/or operating problems
  • Obtain operating and test data to solve electrical equipment and/or systems problems
  • Steward the EPC contractor's activities with respect to electrical engineering and design including:

    • Development and design of Electrical systems (Electrical Design Criteria,  Electrical System Analysis, etc)
    • Detail electrical engineering
    • Development of electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
    • Development of the schedule and recommended deliverables
    • Measurement and reporting of physical progress
    • Selection, specification, and inspection of electrical equipment and components
    • Procurement of electrical items including preparation of specifications, bid evaluations, bid tabulations, bid recommendations, etc.
    • Preparation of operating manuals and other plant start up planning as required.  
    • Electrical estimates for weight control report.

  • Participate in Hazardous Operations (HAZOP) reviews
  • Review, evaluate, and advise:

    • Electrical specifications and drawings
    • Compliance with design methods and safety factors to be used in design of project.  Reviews completed design for correctness, compliance, and operability
    • Operability of the unit or plant for start up, normal, turndown, and shutdown modes.  Reviews or sets design basis for abnormal operating conditions
    • Technical bid tabulations for electrical components and systems
    • Shop tests and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), protocols and the events themselves


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Thorough and extensive knowledge of:

    • Electrical engineering principles, theories, and concepts
    • Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices

  • Thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of electrical equipment
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 20+ years of closely related professional engineering experience, 5+ years of which should be at the Lead Electrical Engineer level on an Upstream project in the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus Notes, etc.
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities, while acting within a team environment.  Expectation is for a rapid comprehension of Client's Engineering Practices.
  • Knowledge of Offshore installation challenges and Marine enviroments.
