Job Description:

About ROV Senior Pilot Technician Position Reporting to the ROV/Trenching Supervisor & Superintendant, this primary function of this position is offshore operation, maintenance and repair of the ROV/Trenching system and ancillary equipment under the direction of the Supervisor/Superintendant. Operational duties and responsibilities include:
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of ROV/Trencher systems and fulfilling duties as Shift Supervisor when required.
  • Ensure safe offshore operation including maintenance and repair of ROV/Trencher and auxiliary equipment and correct, safe working practices are carried out.
  • Ensure environmental monitoring and measurement is adhered to in accordance with Company safe operating procedures.
  • Ensure spares and materials are requisitioned in a timely manner to maintain the minimum stock levels in the system inventory.
  • Ensuring goods received are checked against requisition, the inventory updated and that the completed paperwork is returned to the Operations department.
  • Ensuring that items dispatched from offshore location, whether for repair, warranty, or on demobilization are accompanied by the correct paperwork.
  • Arranging or performing ''on the job'' training of personnel unfamiliar with the particular vessel, equipment or ROV in use, especially in terms of safe working practice.
  • Participation in any additional training as requested by the Company.
  • Appraising the performance of personnel under their supervision in the execution of the work such that any training requirements are identified.
  • Participation in the Company's Competency scheme. To carry out other tasks as delegated by Canyon Offshore Management or Supervisor.
QHSE Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of all ROV/Trenching and subcontractor personnel under his/her control in accordance with Company QHSE policy and operational procedures, including the implementation of Task and Dive Plans.
  • Participation in offshore meetings, e.g. morning, safety, project briefings and wash-ups, etc.
  • Ensure good liaison between Company and Client Representatives are maintained by all Company personnel.
  • Ensure Risk Assessments, JSA`s, TBTs have been conducted and recorded in accordance with Company procedures prior to any task being carried out also ensuring responsible person has instigated all identified control measures.
  • Ensure all personnel have safety awareness of any tasks to be conducted, particularly in regards to COSHH, manual handling, Working at Height, Environment and Lifting Operations and correct planning and corrective actions are in place.
  • Ensure LOTO procedure is implemented prior to any HV work and correct Competent and Responsible personnel are in place and identified.
  • Ensure correct PPE is adorned by all personnel in accordance with Company and vessel procedures.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported to Vessel and Company QHSE department in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensure any Non-Conformances are reported in accordance with Company procedures. Ensure ROV/Trenching Emergency Response Drills are conducted with full crew participation.
  • Ensure Company Emergency Response Plan is known and adhered to.
  • Ensure all personnel know and understand the HSE regulations and procedures applicable to their position and that they are implemented.
  • Participation in any accident investigation.
  • Ensure all offshore reporting is conducted accurately in accordance with client instruction and Company procedures, including project timesheets, post project reports, weekly safety meetings etc.
  • Ensure all Project documentation is compiled accurately and professionally and recorded in the appropriate manner by all personnel.
  • Conversant with all Canyon and Project procedures including all HSE plans.
  • Ensure all ROV/Trenching personnel follow correct documentation procedures, i.e. PMS, Tech Logs, Inventory, Weekly Tech Reports, and Dive/Video Logs are all recorded and submitted in a correct and professional format. Complies with all of the Employee responsibilities listed in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Ensure good housekeeping of all ROV/Trencher systems.
Experience Required:
  • Shall preferably be qualified in an engineering discipline to a minimum of HNC standard or time served technician with final City & Guilds certificate or equivalent.
  • Shall meet IMCA competence criteria by having satisfactorily completed the MTCS assessment as a Senior Pilot Technician with a nominal minimum of 3 years offshore experience and 400 hours piloting.
  • Shall demonstrate good technical and operational knowledge of ROV/Trenching systems.
  • Shall possess good knowledge of current safety and quality standards as applied to systems and their requirements in an offshore environment.
  • Shall demonstrate ability to correctly complete all necessary company documentation.
  • Shall demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and head a team in achieving project requirements.
  • Shall possess current offshore survival, medical certification and passport.
  • Operational requirements may dictate fulfilling the role as Supervisor when required.
