Our Smith Services group is seeking to hire a qualified candidate to fill the position of Welder in our Rock Springs, WY District.
Smith Services provides a wide range of products and services to meet customer requirements for oil and gas drilling operations. This position requires employee to work daily in Rock Springs WY. Relocation is not provided.
Job Description:
The Welder primary purpose will be to operate hard banding units and apply hard band material to customer and Smith tools and pipe.
Main duties are as follows:
- Safely, effectively and proficiently apply hard band to equipment and tools;
- Compile job reports and paperwork using both hard copies and computer-generated reports;
- Responsible for field sales by helping to maintain existing customer base, as well as contacting new and/or potential customers in order to continually improve our market share.
- This includes active involvement in the development of bids, quotes and presentations for our customers, as well as participation in corrective action plans when problems occur;
- Will assist shop personnel in the repair, testing and servicing of Smith Services products, as needed, to meet customer needs and expectations.
- Will be on call 24 hours/day, with scheduled days off, when possible.
- This position requires travel throughout the Williston district as well as potentially the entire Western, US.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge in the theory and application of welding, hard banding and using supporting equipment
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent people skills
- Must be able to use a computer to generate
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills required
- Must have Smith Services training on hard banding
- Must be able to assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced employees
- Must possess knowledge of safe work practices and have the ability to apply them
- Willing and able to be on call 24 hours a day
- Willing and able to perform overnight travel
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
- Must be able to be certified as a Smith qualified driver, CDL license preferred.
