Chevron North America Exploration and Production is accepting online applications for the position of Drilling Engineer-Performance Improvement located in Bakersfield, California.

Overview:

Liase with Asset Development Teams, Technical Teams, ETC and Global D&C groups to develop and implement D&C Global Standards in SJVBU. Lead performance data analysis, benchmarking and lookback activities; identify and drive improvement opportunities; perform risk assessments; coordinate 3rd party Tech Limits / Lean Sigma program; mentor early career engineers and summer interns. Develop and track KPIs. Champions BU Single Well CPDEP use. Champions new technology business cases and pilot projects. Monitors latest technology advances and performs preliminary evaluation of new applications. Performance improvement activities typically supports 6-8 drilling rigs and 30-50 workover rigs. Provide category management support to local D&C Category Management Leadership Team. Provide vacation relief for Drilling Operations Engineers as required.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Liase with Global D&C, ETC, Asset and Tech Teams to develop and implement Global D&C standards in the SBU. Ensure all SOP's are relevant and updated.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert and Sponsor for multiple third party contracts for D&C related services. Provide support to D&C Contract Leadership Team. Develop and KPI's for assigned contracts.
  • Tracking of selected D&C metrics, benchmarking and performing look backs to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, assist in developing action plans to achieve world class performance and Clear Leader expectations.
  • Mentoring of Horizon Program engineers and summer interns; participate in recruiting activities.
  • Lead Tech Limits/Lean Sigma efforts in the D&C Group. Identify and drive improvement opportunities for new well and workover activities.
  • Relieve D&C Operations Engineers as required for training / vacation periods.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in petroleum engineering
  • Minimum five yrs relevant oilfield drilling engineering experience.

Relocation Options:

  • Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters
