Reliability Engineer

Business Unit Overview


Research, Engineering, Manufacturing and Sustaining (REMS) is the innovative community within this global service provider which pushes its members to the very limits of cutting edge product creation and improvement. REMS members have the opportunity to collaborate with scientific and engineering leaders from both the professional and academic communities. Participants will join small teams dedicated to projects from initial research and discovery to its final manufactured delivery on the oilfield.

The Reliability Engineer (RE) applies engineering knowledge and technical expertise to prevent or reduce the likelihood of failure of EMS products and services. The RE uses various methodologies and tools to work closely with those who design, develop, test, manufacture, and deliver our products and services to achieve customer specified operational reliability.

  • Monitor and analyze key reliability indicators of Center products and make recommendations to improve.
  • Analyze proposed product designs and calculates cumulative effect on final system reliability of individual part reliabilities and determine gap to achieve customer specified operational reliability.
  • Implement the reliability roadmap using appropriate tools such as risk analysis, FEA, modal analysis, FMEA, benchmarking against existing products, virtual qualification, thermal analysis, and simulation and modeling.
  • Guide the design teams in qualification testing and performance verification, root cause failure analysis, using appropriate tools such as accelerated testing and combined environment testing, and conducting forensic failure analysis.
  • Determine units requiring environmental testing and specifies minimum number of samples and or tests to obtain statistically valid data.
  • Advise and confer with engineers in design reviews to provide reliability findings and recommendations.
  • Compile lessons learned throughout reliability process and ensure appropriate archival for re-use of captured knowledge.

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree is a must: Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or Numerical focus preferred.
  • At least 5 years of extensive and relevant experience in the reliability domain, including but not limited to the full scope of Product Development Process.
  • Knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma techniques and metrics.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing.
  • Knowledge of products, equipment and tools.
  • Ability to function independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong decision making and leadership skills.
  • Able to effect change through influence.
  • Strong mentoring/training skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ergonomics and safety.
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems.
