Essential Job Duties:<
The Materials Specialist oversees, coordinates, analyzes, and reports warehousing/storage and transportation activities and other key material processes. Close coordination with the Operations, Facilities, and Drilling groups is required. The position is based in the field office/ field warehouse and reports to the Supply Chain Manager or Team Leader in the Business Unit.
Specific Job Duties
Responsible for material inventory management, control, and replenishment with established critical stock, inventory target levels, and inventory turn targets for the region.
Establish and maintain open and effective communications between departments. Responsible for working with Drill Site Managers, Construction Inspectors, Workover & Completions Specialists, Lease and Plant Operators, and Finance to accurately track and account for the movement of materials from inventory into fixed assets.
Responsible for warehouse, patio, and yard organization and operation in a safe, effective, secure, and controlled manner.
Support the management and planning of Oxy's inventory requirements to balance investment and demand accounting for operation conditions, seasonal fluctuations, changing market.
Organize periodic surplus stock sales. Provide regular reports on inventory values, stock turns, and related metrics to supervisor and local contract proponents.
Support the coordination with proponent groups and Finance to track and report on material refurbishment and scrap rates (i.e. OCTG, rods, valves, etc.).
Provide supplier performance feedback to supervisor and local contract proponents.
Lead safety initiatives related to SCM and be a positive role model for safety initiatives, procedures, and practices.
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree, or equivalent work experience, in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management.
Minimum 3 yrs experience with materials management and accounting principles.
Excellent interpersonal, oral & written communication, computer and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Supply Chain Management experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, contract administration or inventory management.
Upstream contracts administration experience including interaction with operating groups, legal department and management to insure accurate and timely processing of agreements and contracts.
General knowledge of oil and gas drilling and production operations.
General knowledge of inventory management policy and procedures.
General knowledge of procurement policy and procedures.
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Finance/Inventory models (Oracle, SAP).
