BASIC PURPOSE:
The Sr. Petrophysicist is an integral part of the Petrophysics team and within Geoscience Technology will be responsible for providing high quality petrophysical technical leadership to the multi-disciplinary Subsurface Teams. This position involves independent generation of complex technical petrophysical analysis and integrates the results with other sub-surface disciplines.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Petrophysical expertise in evaluation of siliciclastic, carbonate and fractured reservoirs
- Planning, executing, and interpreting routine and special core analysis programmes.
Collaborating with engineering teams to develop saturation-height relationships for use in geological and flow simulation models.
- Participate in the planning and execution of formation evaluation programs to optimize project team objectives, particularly as a member of integrated project teams.
- Perform reliable rapid formation evaluation in support of well operations.
- Perform in-depth well specific and regional petrophysical studies, including full integration of core & log data.
- Work effectively as a member of a team, as well as work independently.
- Excellent Written & Oral Communication skills.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide responsive, expert technical petrophysical advice and service to the Subsurface Geoscience and Engineering teams in an accurate and timely manner in support of well evaluation planning, ongoing well operations, and petrophysical studies.
- Act as an integral member of regional, prospect generation, well planning, operations and appraisal project teams.
- Coordinate any wireline log post-processing, and core analyses in support of well evaluations.
- Participate in team meetings, partner meetings, technical workshops, peer-assists, and peer reviews.
- Capture any opportunities for new or improved technologies and share with the petrophysics team and the greater BHPB geoscience and engineering community.
- Develop and maintain networks and relationships with key peers and colleagues in other asset and resource teams and geographic regions for purposes of information and ideas sharing.
- Retention and enhancement of key skillsets and competency through continued training and development.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors (or higher) Degree in Geosciences, Science or Engineering.
- At least 8+ years experience working as a Petrophysicist in the upstream petroleum industry.
- Diverse experience and expertise in performing detailed petrophysical evaluations of clastic reservoirs, including interpretation of open & cased-hole wireline logs, LWD, and full-spectrum integration of core and log data.
- Experience in the evaluation of deepwater clastic reservoirs is highly desirable, and experience in the evaluation of carbonate and fractured reservoirs is also a plus.
- Candidate must be familiar with modern logging tools (Wireline, LWD & FEWD), and be adept in QC of field log data, and able to conduct reliable rapid formation evaluations in support of both exploration and development well operations.
- Experience required in planning of well evaluation programs, coordination of wireline log data post processing and core analyses programs, and well post-audit report writing. In-depth experience in planning core analyses programs/protocols is highly desired.
- In depth knowledge of SCAL and engineering applications is a plus.
- Experience in formation evaluation in horizontal wellbores is a desirable.
- Diverse international experience is a plus.
- Some international travel is required.
