Job Description:
C-Mar America is seeking Senior DPO's  to work on board a Custom Lift System '' Bottom Feeder'' in the Gulf of Mexico.

This system was developed for the single piece retrieval of hurricane toppled platforms from the seabed. The system is comprised of lift gantries, a variety of lift, mooring and construction winches, generators, compressors, and miscellaneous construction equipment supported by two, unmanned, deck cargo barges.

The ''Lift System'' is towed to location by a primary towing vessel with a back-up tug always in attendance.  Operations personnel are housed on two husbanding vessels and transferred to the ''Lift System'' for mooring and lifting operations. The ''Lift System'' is held on station by an 8-point spread mooring. The ''Lift System'' has several buildings on board the barges for the storage of spare equipment, an operations room for lifting operations.

The '' Lift System'' will have a dynamic positioning (DP) system that will be used for seakeeping purposes only. The DP system will consist of eight (8) retractable and azimuthing diesel-hydraulic 1,000 HP thrusters. The DP system will be classed by ABS as DPS-3.

Senior DP Operator Requirements

The SDPO:

  • Must have previous documented DP Log Book experience 365 days on DP2 or DP3 vessels.
  • Must be in possession of valid Nautical Institute DPO (unlimited) certificate or equivalent.
  • Should have previous experience on vessels of similar operational mission.
  • Shall be competent to conduct DP annual trials, lead DP drills, train new DP personnel,

Needs to have detailed knowledge of:

  • Actions to take due to failures of all equipment.
  • Emergency procedures & actions that have impact on the DP operations.
  • Setup & functionality & failure modes and use of any DP equipment.
  • Must have the ability to plan, execute and lead DP drills including blackout recovery.
  • Should actively participate in HAZID/HAZOP meeting as part of project planning.
  • Should have knowledge of relevant industry & IMCA documentation.
  • Should keep DP operating records in a DP logbook.

To have all of the qualifications of the DPO which should also include:

  • Detailed knowledge in the setup and use of all position reference systems;
  • Detailed knowledge in the setup and use of the data logger.
  • Detailed knowledge of emergency procedures & actions that have impact on the DP operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of setup & functionality & failure modes and use of any DP equipment.
