Job Description:
Position: Assistant Driller

Group: Operations

Department: Drilling

Immediate Supervisor: Driller

Reviewing Supervisor: OIM and Toolpushers

Position Purpose:

  • To assist in supervising the drill crew.
  • Train local crews on the proper operation and maintenance of rig equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide assistance to the driller in supervision of the drill crew.
  • Be knowledgeable of drilling practices and procedures.
  • Assist training the drill crew in the operation and maintenance of rig equipment.
  • Operate the rig as directed by the OIM or his designee.
  • Train and assist derrickman in the operation,maintenance, and repair of mud pumps, mud mixing system and all valves and lines in mud system.
  • Assist in training all drill crew members in the proper care and use of tools.
  • Assist driller in preparing drilling reports and pump records.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Company, manufacturer, and regulatory manuals and procedures.
  • Assist the driller in maintaining inventory control of all rig supplies used in daily drilling operations.
  • Responsible for correcting and/or reporting any condition or act that will increase the risk of injury or damage and immediately report all accidents, injuries and illnesses to the OIM.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the driller or OIM.

PREREQUSITES:

  • Be a fully qualified derrickman (manual derrick)
  • Be Brazilian national & bi-lingual (read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently)
  • Be knowledgeable of the operational limitations of all drilling equipment onboard.
  • Be knowledgeable of Scorpion Offshore procedures for care and handling of tubulars and related equipment.
  • Must be a high school graduate.
