This is a an opportunity to join the dynamic team of experienced process engineering safety specialists who conduct engineering design reviews and risk assessments both in the office and on site. This position will provide advice on process/technical safety reviews to the client's businesses in the Americas. These reviews help the client to establish fit for purpose and cost-effective approaches to process/technical safety engineering and asset operability and integrity.
Leading the following activities will be key:
•Process, Technical, Desk & Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews that will address technical and operational issues in a way that is fully integrated with the management of other business risks and activities
•Application of Hazard and Effect Management Process principles including As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) determination via various techniques including Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
•Strategic partnerships with key customers in the Americas Region in the area of Process Technical Safety
•Be accountable for the quality of the deliverable both in terms of technical content, clarity and practicality of the recommendations and solutions offered
•Pre-startup Safety Reviews and training on technical safety
The Process Technical Safety team also delivers specific related process safety technical services to projects, to which you will gain exposure, such as:
•Design of safety systems including pressure relief facilities, flare systems, and emergency depressuring systems
•Design of fire protection systems, structural fireproofing, and area drainage in conjunction with other discipline teams
•The scope of work will additionally include activities related to Instrumented Protected Function and Safety Integrity Level Classification, Area Classification and dispersion analysis
•After sufficient training and experience, the role will encompass teaching the client's Technical Safety Engineering course at customer locations and in the three client training centers
•Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
•Bachelors degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
•Minimum of 2+ years experience in technical safety in petrochemical manufacturing/gas plant or in oil/gas exploration and production preferred
•Minimum of 5+ years experience in the Oil & Gas Industry
•Experience with flare and relief system design preferred
•Willing to travel between 25%-50%
•Strong written and verbal communication abilities
•Excellent collaboration and team working skills plus resilience in the face of change
•Ability to provide coaching and guidance o the site process safety focal points
