Duties & Responsibilities
OFFSHORE - 3 week rotation (typical) or a mix of onshore & offshore support, as required. It may be required to spend additional time onshore, preparing and planning for the offshore scope. Plans, manages, and leads inspections for offshore structures and vessels, and their appurtenances, for conformance to specifications, using NDT, fixed or preset measuring instruments; Travels offshore on vessels and in aircraft. Examines materials or products for anomalies, damage, or defects, such as cracks, pits, incomplete welds, holes, dents, excessive corrosion, etc. Examines coating conditions. Records inspection and statistical data and surveys offshore structures, vessels and pipelines. Makes appropriate drawings and sketches to supplement written data. Keeps inspection data organized. Uses computer and various software applications to prepare, check and package various types of inspection and survey reports.
Education/Training/Certificates: High school diploma; CAPP approved Offshore Survival Training (BST) and Medical Certificate; LEEA Registered certificates for the following: Part 1 Group 1; Lifting Gear General, Lifting Machines Manual; Lifting Machines Powered; API Registered Course: 2C and 2D Crane Inspection; Level 2 NDT certificates in the following: Liquid Penetrant Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement, and Eddy Current Inspection; Rope access training (IRATA level 1 minimum). Experience: 25+ years related experience and/or NDT training; extensive experience in offshore oil & gas industry, particularly in North Atlantic region. Skills & Knowledge: NDT techniques mentioned above, Offshore Crane competent Person, Inspection, and testing of Lifting/Hoisting Gear (loose and fixed) particularly on Semi-submersible drilling rigs, Offshore Classification Surveys for hull and equipment, and basic computer knowledge in MS Office. Must perform basic math skills with accuracy. Aptitude for technical writing. Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as supervise others.
