Employment Details
•Job title: Graduate Geologist/Geologist (depending on experience)
•Place of work: Calgary, Canada
•Reporting to: Regional Manager
•Working hours: 40hrs/week, Monday to Friday
•Experience level: 2 years industry experience preferred but not required

Job Entry Requirements
•The minimum qualification is a good honours degree in Geology, Earth Science, Geophysics or Petroleum Geoscience
•The preferred qualification is an MSc or PhD in Geology, Earth Science, Geophysics or Petroleum Geoscience
•Experience with industry-standard software packages, such as Petrel or GIS-based software, is preferred but not expected

Purpose of Job
Primary responsibility is to conduct routine pressure analysis workflows under the supervision and mentorship of more senior personnel.
The successful applicant will build competence in the following areas;
•Data loading and QC in RokDoc (Ikon Science's proprietary software package),
•Producing single and multi-well plots and developing sufficient skills to interpret what these plots are illustrating,
•Assimilation of both digital and analogue oilfield data such as well logs, LAS files and End of Well Reports,
•Identification and analysis of;
•the mechanisms of overpressure,
•the geological controls on pore pressure,
•Analysis of horizontal and vertical stress profiles,
•Presentation of results and client communication.

Physical Demands
The main working environment is office-based desk work. Travel to client offices in the oil centres of the world is necessary periodically. Working hours are 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. It is occasionally expected that employees will be flexible in their working hours to suit project work.

Skills and Competencies
The basic skills and competences for this role are ability to work in a small team environment, show excellent presentation skills and good English language and grammar skills. In addition, all staff are expected to be, creative, innovative and adhere to the principals of scientific rigour and honesty.

Expectations
The demonstration of sufficient skill at Geologist level is intended to lead to Senior Geologist level. As a measure of achieving at this level a Geologist should be able to complete well planning type projects under minimal supervision and have knowledge and experience of a range of different types of project and preferably have team leadership capability. Guidance on the experience and skills required for career development will be provided.
