Job Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary:
• Play an active role in drilling and completion fluid research and development
• Identify gaps in drilling fluid testing and evaluation
• Conduct research and development independently or as a team player
• Participate in in-house, Joint Industry Projects or collaborative research to solve practical problems (such as loss circulation and formation damage)
• Initiate innovative research in the area of drilling and completion fluids
• Conduct seminars, publish paper and present research findings
• Train and develop young engineers in the area of expertise
• Originate ideas for improvements of drilling and completion fluid performance
• Play a key role in the field trials, analyze results and recommend new or changed procedures or formulations
• Prepare technical papers for journals, conferences, professional societies and technical groups, file patents
• Provide expert training and in-house courses
• Demonstrate strong commitment to maintain high quality occupational health, safety, & working environment based on HSE rules and regulations
• Performs other duties as required

Secondary:
• Provide consulting/technical support for Drilling Technology Department on drilling fluid problems
• Participate in field trial of new/improved drilling fluid and drilling fluid products
• Provide engineering input and support for drilling and completion fluids related problems
• Analyze and evaluate mud performance to improve drilling efficiency and eliminate drilling problems
• Present drilling and completion fluid related findings to DTT and DTD

Education and Experience:
• MS/PhD in Petroleum/Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Petroleum Geology or related majors
• Minimum ten (10) years' experience in the oil industry, academia and/or related research institute activities
• Good technical capability in drilling and completion fluids as recognized by industry peers
• Intensive industry training and good technical publications
• Diversified field experience as drilling fluid engineer/consultant
• Demonstrated research capability and background on developing drilling and completion fluid
• Ability to communicate ideas, work in a team, and utilize their expertise and technical knowledge to achieve results
• Ability to mentor less experienced researchers to contribute in the local man power development
• Comprehensive knowledge of drilling and drilling fluid problems
• Field deployment experience of new fluid or mud additive
• Good knowledge of current drilling fluids limitations
• Up to date knowledge of drilling fluid R&D in the industry
• Demonstrate strong commitment to maintain high quality occupational health, safety & working environment based on HSE rules and regulations.
