Job Description:

Responsibilities :

The Exploration Geologist - Deepwater is a member of an exploration team responsible for finding and evaluating exploration opportunities across the Gulf of Mexico,USA

  • The Exploration Geologist - Deepwater will generate/identify new material opportunities and assess/mature Shell's existing portfolio
  • Apply play-based exploration methods, integrating the regional geological framework with prospect/lead evaluations, leading to informed, timely and actionable recommendations for investment with critical risks and uncertainties clearly identified
  • Will provide high-quality comprehensive seismic interpretations, maps (gross depositional environment, isopach, structure etc.), volumetrics and risk assessments
  • Identify lease sale and potential farm-in opportunities; mature or cull as appropriate
  • Propose data acquisition, data reprocessing ,and studies required to mature and develop plays and prospects
  • Assist team in moving prospects from drill-worthy to drill-ready status, working with well engineering, petrophysics, seismic processing and other key disciplines
  • Deliver to Shell's standards and assurance processes; develop skill in Health Safety and Environment best practices and exercise accountability where appropriate

Requirements :

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Minimum of 5 years exploration experience, preferably in an operating environment
  • Masters or PhD in Geology
  • Gulf of Mexico exploration experience is preferable
  • Skill in 2D/3D seismic interpretation, regional framework studies (play-based exploration), prospect identification and maturation, and ArcGISSkill in working deepwater siliciclastics and carbonate plays
  • Comfortable working with ambiguous, and often times complex data
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a strong team player
  • Proven track record working in a multi-disciplinary team
