We are currently looking for Well Control Instructors, for our Training and Development Department. This position will be based at our corporate training facility in New Iberia, Louisiana. Parker Drilling has significant oil drilling operations in many parts of the world. The training department is responsible for providing drilling operations the knowledge and support needed for certification classes and well drilling training simulation demonstrations.
The Well Control instructor will deliver Parker Drilling internal well control courses in strict compliance with the accredited course requirements. Course includes 1. Drilling 2. Workover/Completion 3. Well Servicing components 4. Review and update Well Control and Technical course curriculum and manuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
•Independently make arrangements to set up Well Control courses at corporate training center. Including confirming attendees, facility, food, materials, and other actions necessary to deliver a successful certification course.
•Assist in developing future course material to satisfy the requirements necessary to obtain and maintain IADC WELLCAP Well control accreditation.
•Monitor Parker Drilling needs (via class Interaction, etc.) and communicate recommendations to Operations Manager and Training Manager.
•Maintain the integrity of Parker Drilling Well Control training including course content, instructor performance, student testing, and overall training results.
•Maintain training records in accordance with the IADC WELLCAP requirements.
•Arrange for printing and shipping manuals and other course materials.
•Arrange for shipping, provide routine maintenance, and other care for Parker Drilling well control simulator.
•Keeps personal Well Control certification current; attends all necessary training to keep current with drilling technology/procedures/training departments.
•Revises/Updates Well Control class exercises, outside assignments, final test and simulator exercises for MMS and IADC WellCap programs.
•Using updated technology/procedures and training; reviews and updates PowerPoint presentations for all courses.
•Promotes Parker Drilling Commitment to Safety in all courses and procedures, keeps Safety Bulletin and Crew Safety Topics Manuals and training center bulletin board up to date with all new safety bulletins.
•Promotes Parker Drilling Company Mission to Customers, Employees, Shareholders and Community in all courses and procedures.
•Whenever possible, markets Parker Training Center experience, expertise and training programs to potential outside customers.
Conducts training classes in an orderly manner to make the classroom environment conductive to learning (supervise large or small classes of personnel with vast differences of experience, knowledge, ages and cultures) including supervision of personnel during simulator or class exercises.

•Minimum 2 years teaching, instructing, or demonstrated capability to teach a technical subject.
•Able to travel in the United States and to international locations for two to five weeks per trip. Traveling aas much as 4 or more months per year.
•Bachelors Degree in Engineering or physical science, or equivalent work experience.
•Must possess 5+ years oil field experience in Drilling, Completions, or Workover operations
•Able to understand technical concepts, including gas compressibility, preasure, fluid flow, and others.
•Able to easily and accurately perform basic math calculations using a calculator.
•Capable of operating a personal computer and well control simulation equipment
•Strong demonstrated presentation skills.
•Able to individually organize classes and all related requirements at a remote location.
•Able and willing to evaluate and solve problems related to delivery of well control course or the content of the course.
•Willing to undertake learning assignments to expand knowledge of drilling, well servicing, and well control.
•Willing to work as a member of a team, and to support the other team members.
•Able to deliver meet deadlines and keep on a schedule.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
•Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to communicate in clear and diplomatic manner.
•Spanish Language Fluency is desirable
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
•Must possess the education, experience and knowledge that will enable Parker Drilling Company to secure approval from IADC Accreditation & Certification review panel and International Well Control Forum to perform the duties of WellCap instructor and IWCF assessor.
