Job Description:

MCL Canada has an immediate vacancy for a Sr. Structural/Architectural Designer / Checker for our ongoing offshore oil and gas projects.

Details: For our Drilling client

Location: The position is based out of Metroworth St. John's office and Metroworth's client sites in the St. John's area

Duration of Contract: 10 months, renewable

Rate: 40 - 50 hours weekly based on an excellent competitive hourly rate of circa $75-$90 commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits package.

Rotation: Unaccompanied 3 months on / 2 weeks off OR Accompanied 1 annual trip home per year

Experience Required: Diploma in Engineer or Combination of work experience and education. Trained in CAD drafting / designing software. Minimum 10 years proven experience of detailed design gained with design contractors and/or oil/gas companies within the petrochemical industry particularly with respect to offshore oil and gas installations. A thorough knowledge of the codes and standards and a good understanding of offshore engineering practices applicable to topsides structural design for oil and gas facilities. A member of a structural design team on at least two major Greenfield projects offshore with a recognized company within the Oil & Gas Industry. A minimum of 2 years' experience as a user of PDMS Draft. Exposure to fabrication, construction and installation activities although detailed involvement is not essential.

Additional Information: Develop architectural 3D model build in PDMS, CAD design / drafting and MTO preparation work on the project. Ensure effective and consistent production of 3D model build and CAD drafting and MTO deliverables in accordance with architectural specifications and designs, and in accordance with the corporate and project CAD procedures. Monitor performance of project CAD work and report to the Architect (Engineer). Be responsible for 3D model build co-ordination with other design disciplines. To read, understand and implement the Company Safety Policy and the arrangements described in the Company and area Safety Management System documents. Experience in the oil and gas industry is essential, and in particular offshore projects at Detail Design stage. A sound understanding of PDMS Design and Draft packages, and AutoCAD.
