Reviews, weld processes, writes weld procedures, and improves future and existing weldment processes focused on quality & safety. Activities include advanced problem-solving and basic project management often working in teams for defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling fabrication processes. This position is expected to engage and train employees to develop and improve standard operations as well as to document these changes. Various specialized projects are also expected.
Supports and guides welders, machinist, inspectors, buyers, and engineers on welding related subjects
Works with quality control, manufacturing engineering, and design engineering on nonconforming parts and products to develop rework instructions.
Works with Materials and Outsourcing to approve suppliers on welding procedures.
Develops WPS's for varied products, materials, and applications.
Qualifies welders utilizing welder performance testing.
Working with engineering and manufacturing, improves weldment designs for new and existing products.
Makes sure that all welders are qualified with the welding process they are performing.
Develops heat treating and stress relieving instructions based on code and specifications requirements and sound material and metallurgical practices.
