CH2M HILL Project Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor Careers - Calgary, Alberta
CH2M HILL's Project HS&E Advisor will be responsible for ensuring corporate and government safety guidelines are adhered to in every aspect of the company's activities, particularly those that involve day to day design, engineering and construction activities.
Main responsibilities and job description will include:
Implement the Corporate Health and Safety Management System, into personal activities, including:
Identify mentoring and support requirements to effectively complete assigned work
Discuss assignments and planning to ensure CH2M HILL's Health and Safety needs are complete annual goals addressed
Maintain competencies for their position and use time effectively and appropriately identify personal training to enhance their skill set
Meet with Manager, Corporate Health and Safety on a regular basis to discuss weekly objectives/tasks/initiatives
Provide 3-month and semi-annual performance feedback on performance and suggested, improvements as needed
Identify need for additional part-time/temporary Health and Safety staff to assist
Complete and maintain levels of training and experience required to effectively conduct tasks
Meet with permanent and part-time staff regularly, (as needed) to determine workloads and ensure all staff are engaged
Work with and engage CH2M HILL staff; providing CH2M HILL staff assistance, guidance and coaching on safety related issues
Participate in the Safety Committee meeting at least quarterly and complete tasks identified within the meeting as required
Empower other CH2M HILL staff members to step in as-needed, on a temporary or part-time basis, to ensure that CH2M HILL's Health and Safety needs are being covered, and monitor that relationship
Provide input to Manager, Corporate Health and Safety regarding staffing needs and/or concerns
Assist with ensuring that CH2M HILL is in compliance with existing Health and Safety regulatory requirements and guidelines
Participate in the Health and Safety Committee to identify needs, changes and identify potential impacts to CH2M HILL policy or equipment needs as a result of regulatory changes
Monitor technical, industry and regulatory updates and identify potential impacts to CH2M HILL policy, and assist in communicating the updates/revisions to staff
Implement COR Audit action items into Field Health and Safety Plans and into other job initiatives
Oversee the use and condition of Safety related equipment; measure that it is inspected as per schedule and functions prior to distribution to field workers
Review Health and Safety costs in comparison to cost estimates or cost forecasting and provide reports on costs to Manager, Corporate Health and Safety, as requested
Work with accounting to ensure that costs are being tracked as efficiently as possible
Complete purchases of new equipment as appropriate, based on recommendations from the Manger, Corporate Health and Safety, Safety Committee and Discipline Leads, or make recommendations for larger purchases
Assist the Manager, Corporate Health and Safety in implementing COR recommendations, adjusting and communicating the safety program to ensure actions items are implemented
Lead the development of Project and Field Safety Plans as identified by Project Managers and CH2M HILL Management
Implement project kick-off meeting, in conjunction with project managers and team leads, for all key projects
Advise project managers, discipline leads and crew leaders as requested on CH2M HILL's Health and Safety management system and requirements
Participate in "project reviews" with staff members at the completion of major projects or field seasons to review "Lessons Learned" and recommend improvements when conducting future projects
Update Field Safety Plans with recommendations from "Lessons Learned" as required/appropriate
Complete CH2M HILL external customer reporting as identified in Field Health and Safety Plans or directed by CH2M HILL Management
Communicate CH2M HILL' Health and Safety policies and procedures with staff as required, with a focus on project safety management
Review policies, procedures, and best practices, as requested, recommending required changes as appropriate in conjunction with the Manager, Corporate Health and Safety
Communicate policies and procedures to all staff, in cooperation with other department managers and CH2M HILL Sr. management
Review and measure On-Site leadership by CH2M HILL personnel in conjunction with Discipline Leads
Assist CH2M HILL Management and the Safety Committee in identifying related minimum standards
Incorporate Sub-Contractors/ consultants into the CH2M HILL Health and Safety Management program
Measure participation of Sub-contractors/consultants in the corporate Health and Safety program, to the same standards as employees
In conjunction with other departments ensure sub-contractors/consultants meet key standards
Provide Sub-contractors and contractors information related to CH2M HILL's safety standards, through orientations, kick-off meeting presentations and on-site coaching
Complete Corporate Health and Safety Metrics reporting
Record and report corporate metrics related to Leading and Lagging indicators, Training Compliance and competency, Management participation and project compliance, as identified by CH2M HILL Management and the Safety Committee
Work with the Manager, Corporate Health and Safety to measure identified metrics and establishing reporting templates
Participate in incident investigations, analysis and reviews in conjunction with CH2M HILL Management
Utilize and implement corporate practices and procedures associated with the investigation and analysis of incidents that occur related to company operations
Work with Project Managers to ensure that all incidents have been investigated, analyzed and recommended actions implemented
